Thanks for the link.
 
I did the opposite : deleted everything on the client.
(I don't think deleteing stuff on hte server to resolve client problems is really smart,
especially it there are dozen of other users)

Basically something else you have done prior to this has deleted the
.svn folder from your working copy. The FAQ explains it a little
more.
