I mean that I had never previously seen this particular error message before
I moved to Eclipse 3.3 + Subclipse on a new machine about two weeks ago.
Perhaps it's the result of some unfortunate interaction between
Eclipse 3.3and Subclipse.

I find that deleting the files named .syncinfo from the
> workspace/.metadata also works as that removes the cache files.
