[Subclipse-users] RE : [Subclipse-users] Copy bug in FAQ ?

Hi all, Hi Mark,

Well, I didn't find as much time I thought I would to document this :).

Anyway I still found some time to try to reproduce some of the bugs I thought were still present, but didn't manage to reproduce all of them. So I'm wondering if my config is different or if those bugs have been found to have workarounds.

So, I'm gonna try to sum up here the problem(s) that seem(s) to exist at the moment.

In fact, I thought there were two bugs related to copying in Eclipse with a svn provider (subclipse for me, but I guess Subversive has the same problem).
Namely :
========
1) Copying a directory would copy .svn directory => modifying a file inside this "new" dir would have an impact on the original one. Quite puzzling behaviour for new users, you'd say.
==> I've never been able to reproduce this one. So I'm even wondering if it ever existed.

If you can still reproduce this one. Could you please give me the step to go ?

2) Copying a file in another directory that has a file with the same name. The goal of this use case is generally to overwrite the content. The thing is : this will mark the target file as deleted by Subclipse, due to the fact Eclipse seems to implement overwriting with Delete-Then-Copy, but Subclipse never receives the copy event...

=> I can reproduce this one.
Note : As announced, I can confirm this bug is only reproduced when the file is copied within Eclipse. Doing the same thing (drag&drop) with a file coming from outside Eclipse won't mark the file as deleted.
=========

Any information or insight, or even internals about those behaviour are welcome. That'll help documenting it for the FAQ.

Thanks a lot.

I just do not have time to maintain the FAQ. There are lots of things
that could go in it.

It is just an HTML page in the repository under /trunk/www You would
probably want to checkout using the -N option because of the update
sites. I'd just want updates as a patch to the HTML.
