CVS does not handle move/rename, so it does not need to care. When you rename a class for example, you just lose all its history since its creation. A bit lame to me. That's a BIG point for subversion when considering migration.
 
For this problem, I agree with you this is a problem. But I guess you should file an issue in the Eclipse (though I think it's already been done...), and maybe a patch to accelerate it :-).

        We've just recently switched from CVS to SVN.
        Copy/delete/paste/overwrite are not issues in the Eclipse CVS client, which is why I'm frankly a bit surprised at these issues in SubClipse.
