[Subclipse-users] Please promote the plugin for Callisto

Hi there,

Looking at the list archives, it seems like this question was
raised already, but...

Now that the majority (if not all) developers use Eclipse 3.2,
that would be great if Subclipse was promoting a lot more its
Callisto plugin.

Currently, the home page for Subclipse says « The Subclipse 1.0.x
release will work in Eclipse 3.2 » but that's not my feeling!
Please don't be modest and push the 1.1.x to the vast majority, it
works much better than the 1.0.x. It is very confusing to find
the update site for the old plugin advertised in the front page
whereas there is a much better one in callisto.html.

In my current team, none of the developers were aware that there
was another version of Subclipse that is working much better than
the previous one. It is not clear at all on your website that
1.1.x works much better. It is good enough, so please advertise
it so people stop complaining of the poor 1.0.x and refrain from
switching to Subversive.

To give an example: 1.1.x is able to detect .svn directories and
auto-configure settings for existing projects. The 1.0.x plugin
was not able to do so: how many people have been fooled and
believed they were just instructing Subclipse to enable SVN for a
project, whereas they finally notice that they committed a new
project into the repository!

My feeling is that you did a great work, and congratulations for
the new plugin. But for now, it is a secret treasure that only
very few people were able to find. It definitely deserves more
attention from the public.

Thanks in advance,
