Mark, thanks for the pointer. I don't think this is my problem though.
Problem is, I'm a bit of a newbie on this (don't worry, I'm not looking
for you to provide me with Ubuntu support, just any more pointers!).
When I start eclipse from the command line (as opposed to starting it
from the menu system), I get a more specific error:
I get a SIGSEGV, with a 'Problematic frame' pointing to libsvnjavahl.
Maybe I just need to rebuild my own javahl from scratch, I'll try that
(although that will maybe take me a while to work out). Synaptic has
installed 1.3.2-3 of javahl. Does subclipse 1.1.8 *depend* on having a
1.4 javahl?
What I would really like to know is if it is possible to start
eclipse+subclipse with JavaSVN selected as the default transport layer.
Note that I cannot change this from the eclipse/subclipse menu, because
when I try to access that menu, eclipse crashes.
Are there any property/ini files I can change to manually set this?
I also remember seeing previous threads about ubuntu, damned if I can
find them now; although I assume they would be related to using 1.3.x of
svn.
