Since you are on Linux, you are probably using the JavaSVN adapter. It is
pure Java and relies on your JRE for http access. Maybe there are just
some issues in that? If possible, see if you can get the JavaHL library
and use that adapter. We have some info in our FAQ.

Have you tried using your localhost, or your host name instead of
127.0.0.1?
