You are most likely using the JavaSVN adapter. Try obtaining the JavaHL
library and using that. There have been reports of performance problems
on Linux when using JavaSVN due to some code it has in place for determing
symlinks. There is also some property you can set that will turn this off
in JavaSVN. Alex will likely step in with that information.
