Well, maybe I'm not getting all the messages after all. But after reading
from the archives....

I'd favor what happens with CVS, when a file is deleted, the compare shows a
blank on the right hand side.

If it weren't in conflict, would it be deleted? That's what I'd expect to
happen when I update a file that has been deleted.
