We do not add the option, we get it for "free". Lucky us. I am not
disagreeing with you about how it ought to work, I am just saying that I
do not think it can be made to work without causing other problems. Also,
if you select the files you want to commit, then you will not see the
file. You only see it if you select a parent folder.

If you want to submit a patch, I'd suggest viewing the history of the
files involved so you can get an idea as to what bugs were fixed by which
changes. Then, if you can make this work without causing any regressions
... great!
