First thing you must realize is that Subversion is in effect a version
file system, and nothing more. Everything you see in a repositories are
just folders, that could be named "fluffy", "uranus" and "cornfed", but
they are named "trunk", "tags" and "branches" by convention.

If you create a new project, you must select a folder it will be created
under, Subversion will not enforce that iti is created under trunk.

I'm not sure I understand Question 2.
