I believe that is what the Subversion developers call a "drive-by design"
on their mailing list. In other words, flesh out your proposal completely
and we can talk about it. These sorts of ideas have been floated by many
people in the past (for Subversion) and it is typically very easy to run
into roadblocks that make it more difficult than it sounds.

Anyway, if you want to draft a complete design I would be happy to review
it.
