Subclipse performance on large working copies is known issue.
I'm personally trying to spent significant portion of my subclipse devoted
time on it.
Every release brings some improvements, the code in trunk which will become
0.9.35 release someday
has again some improvements. (This time in the way how/what svn
synchronization data are stored in cache).

BTW: The code is out there, feel free to improve it ;-)
