Mark,
 
actually the command in the log of Subclipse shows that Subclipsed transferred lowercase to JavaHL and received the error message that the case is incorrect. So why is TortoiseSVN working well on the same local working copy?

Subclipse is mostly a UI. The Subversion work is done by the adapter -
JavaHL or JavaSVN.

The "command" we log in the console gives a good idea of the info we are
providing to the adapter.
