Let me try to answer your questions.

First off, according to the devs the 'synchronize' perspective is way back
in its pre-alpha stage. The new 0.9.32 version about to be released will
bring many improvements to it.

As for 1) AFAIK the commit/update works for .classpath and .project files
bye default, and the synchronize as well. At least I don't remember
turning that on anywhere, and we have it in the repository. We make great
use of that, especially with the help of Variables.

The bin folder is also stored in repository, and is so by default (again,
if I remember correctly). But the *.class files are not.
