RE: Subclipse under Linux

I personally would opt for a complete no-hassle variant, which provides all the
required connectivity out of the box as part of the default subclipse install.
Having to install additional plugins/extensions before being able to get going
seems rather awkward to me.

At least subclipse should come as a feature with a set of default extensions
(JavaHL, Commandline and JavaSVN) included. Additionally, one should use
eclipse's mechanism for distinguishing platforms, by providing separate JavaHL
plugins/fragments for Windows and Linux.
