I meant that many people, including myself, would prefer to use JavaHL.
The previous poster implied that you had to install JavaSVN and of course
there is no such requirement or even recommendation.

At least for now, JavaHL is my "official" recommendation for using
Subclipse.

There are debian packages available for subversion with the javahl
enabled.
The packages are provided by http://www.ggtools.net/

source.list entry
deb http://www.ggtools.net/files/debian/unstable/ ./

It is also very easy to build Subversion and JavaHL from source.
