Ok, problem solved.
I installed subversion 1.1.4 from http://metissian.com/projects/
macosx/subversion/. This package doesn't seem to work with the
plugin. I installed 1.1.3 and it works again.
I was on the wrong track because the eclipse error messages aren't to
clear, it seems like there's something wrong with the loading of the
plugin itself.
