On Debian systems you typically have to do something to let Java see the
JavaHL libraries. Some people create symlinks to do this, so maybe you
did so within your 3.1M4 structure. Others, launch Eclipse with a shell
script that sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH before running Eclipse.

I guess you need to figure out what you did to get 3.1M4 to see JavaHL and
then repeat the process.
