Do proxies work with subclipse?

I've got a couple of users trying to work with subclipse through a proxy. They seem to think that currently that isn't possible. I've seen an issue where being able to easily configure for a proxy is in the works, but does that mean that it doesn't work with a proxy currently? Would it work if the proper proxy setup was done with SVN directly (e.g., register settings in Windows)?
