What's the problem with completely ignoring them though? It seems like
it would be the expected behaviour. Linked resources really only exist
in your .project file, and it's up to the user to make sure their
environment has the correct variables or directories setup for the
linked resource.

There seems to be code in some places already that ignores them, and it
works for the most part.
