cannot open perspective

i cant use subclipse because everytime i try to open the "SVN repository
exploring" i get a "Problems opening perspective
'org.tigris.subversion.subclipse.ui.svnPerspective'.

i am using eclipse 3.0.1 on gentoo.

any ideas?
