RE: Stability issues

Hi Rick,
I'm also trying to use subclipse on large java projects (5000+ classes).
On much older releases, there were really huge performance problems as
far as decorations were concerned (even with "deep..." decorations
unchecked). There were a major improvement a few realease ago when
decorations were supposed to be computed only when the user made the
nodes visible. But even with 0.9.21 I still experience performance
problems on eclipse startup (sometimes decorating few minutes with
50-100% CPU load even though there should be only the projects root
nodes to decorate...). This is still though much better than before when
the PC was freezed 5-10 minutes at 100% CPU load.
I still experience problems when performing updates on the whole project
(and this is still linked to decoration).
One way to diagnose what's eating eclipse's time is to turn on "verbose"
on the progress view. This way, you can correlate your slowdowns with
the decoration task running.

As you do, I hope these perf problems will be solved in future versions
ince this is really a showstoper. Other than that subclipse is a great
svn integration !
BTW, I never experienced such decoration perf problem with any other SCM
plugin (VSS, CVS).

Best regards,

Vincent
