Checking out into project subdir [newbie question]

I'm exploring subversion and subclipse to assess moving existing
eclipse/CVS development work to svn, which mostly I like so far. [svn
book is very good, highly recommend]

But... am unable to find equivalent in subclipse of CVS capability to
check out from the repository into a folder *within* an existing eclipse
project.

[tried workaround of checking out into workspace project subdir outside
eclipse, but subclipse doesn't pick up and enable Team ops when I've
bypassed it in this fashion]

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
