Yes, I saw it in their plan. Realistically, this isn't something we would
support for a very long time because we are not likely to make 3.2 a
requirement for a very long time.

There are other reasons I could see us never supporting this. I will add
those in the Bugzilla to give the developers a chance to think about the
issues.
