libsvnjavahl.so For Subversion 1.0.8

Greetings,

Can someone confirm that the source for subversion 1.0.8 is not what was
used to created the svn-javahl.jar that is in the current version of the
subclipse plugin?

What version was used, 1.1?

Also, more relevant to the subject, how is it that my plugin folder for
subclipse-core does not contain a libsvnjavahl.so file, but
functionality still works, even though on the preferences page I have
not specified the command-line interface?

I assume that it is not defaulting to the command-line interface,
because when I select that then the functionality to checkout from the
SVN repository fails to work, along with other functionality.

Please bear in mind that my development experience under Linux is
limited, so please refrain from any flames and just point me, gently, to
the correct documentation on .so default locations or subversion
installation background.
