Let me clarify this: we're creating the svn 0.35 branch sometime
today. Then, as per our new project policy, the branch is going to
"sit" for a week. On Dec 17th we release the official 0.35 tarball from
the branch, and then move the branch to the tag as usual.

On that same day, (Dec 17th), we're going to create a
"1.0-stabilization" branch (beta) from the 0.35 tag. It will persist
for a month or two before it becomes 1.0.

(So really, after today, any commits to svn /trunk are *not* going to be
in 1.0, unless there are major votes to backport to the branch!)
