   (Ruby tests) Required test suite fixes of r1714790 to run.
   (Ubuntu issue) ./configure needed global variables set to make LTO work:
                  AR="gcc-ar" NM="gcc-nm" RANLIB=gcc-ranlib

   All tests passed.
