1.8.0 expected release date is June 18th. So we'll need to have it
signed and staging to mirrors on the 17th. As a result I expect to
produce the 1.8.0 final tarball in the next few days. Since we should
have no changes from the rc3 tarball other than the version it
announces it should be possible to simply unpack, compare for
unexpected changes and then sign without testing. Which should allow
us to quickly get the final signatures.
I'm going to be on vacation for the next two weeks. I'm happy to have
the tarball and everything ready to go but it'd be nice if someone
else can do the final bit of sending the announcement email and
updating the website. If nobody steps up I'm sure I can find a way to
get it done since I should be able to find a decent net connection to
do the release (the last little bit only takes 30 minutes or so).
