Issue 3818 may be bogus. It needs more research.

I haven't had time to digest Greg's input regarding the issue I've

I'll be on-site at a customer all of next week, and then
busy preparing the workshop program for elego's SVN Day.
So I don't think I'll get to look at this before the Apache Retreat
in Ireland and the Berlin hackathon. If someone wants to pick up the ball,
please go ahead.
