Subversion trunk (r1078338) HTTP(/WC?) performance problems?

Hi,

I'm not sure if much performance comparison has been performed, but I'm
unhappy to report a significant _reduction_ in speed in a checkout.

Subversion 1.7 (r1078338) client, checking out from localhost HTTP
server (Subversion 1.7 r1078338):
Checkout a tree with 3740 files, 121 directories, totalling 29MiB

real 0m25.552s
user 0m5.777s
sys 0m8.099s

Subversion 1.6.15 (r1038135) client, checking out from the same server:
Same checkout:

real 0m8.350s
user 0m2.382s
sys 0m2.485s
