I was about to type, "No, that was only through 1.5.x", but you are
correct. Serf is still considered "experimental" through 1.6.x.
1.6.x was branched in r875962, and serf was made the default DAV
access on trunk shortly after that in r875974.

We've already run into serious serf bugs in 1.6.x that we were willing
to roll with:

(Though in this case the fix actually did make it into 1.6.0:

So I don't see how this should be any different?
