Two workarounds I used when I was PM:

1. Use the message-id feature of gmane: grab the Message-ID from the
header and paste it into a http://%s.gmane.org/%s URL. e.g., the message
I'm replying to is at:
http://mid.gmane.org/BBC687EC-6B4B-4289-A4B6-2B708F290A1E@thespidernet.com
http://thread.gmane.org/BBC687EC-6B4B-4289-A4B6-2B708F290A1E@thespidernet.com

2. Read the list via gmane and use the X-Archive-URL header.
