I know serf has problems when specifying http-proxy-exceptions in
both 1.5 and 1.6. (The exceptions seem to be ignored and it still
contacts the proxy.) See my post on the users list. Doesn't
crash and it looks like you already have the exceptions
commented out...

Is serf still supposed to be the default in 1.7? If so, is there
a list of remaining open issues like these?
