WC NG

What are the plans for WC NG? I thought it was going to come out in 1.6, but I don't see it in the changelog, and when I do a new checkout, the WC looks about the same as always. I tried quickly searching this list, but there are so many hundreds of messages with either "WC NG" or "WC-NG" and all the lowercase permutations in the subject, I can't find this answer within a reasonable amount of time.
