My pet project FSVS (fsvs.tigris.org) has the notion of "commit-pipe" and
"update-pipe", which are simply command lines that get the data piped through
on commit resp. update.

Nearly exactly a year ago I asked for a new feature in the advzip program - to
allow recompressing files via STDIN/STDOUT, see
  http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1979231&forum_id=433154

In the few tests I made (with manually doing "advzip -0") I got similar
results as you now (for nearly the same test, only using OpenOffice ;-).

So maybe if some other people chime in on this feature enhancement, at least
half of the work would be done.

Regards,

Phil
