Specification of path-based authentication file

Hi,

i am the current maintainer of WebSVN.
We had some issues regarding the interpretation of the pased-path auth file lately.

One issue was how to handle duplicate groups-sections. Another is about line breaks in the list of users when specifying a group. Support for aliases is not yet implemented.

The section "Path-Based Authorization" of the Subversion Book
seems to be a little bit too shallow.

Can someone point me to a detailed description/specification how these files are parsed and how they are interpreted?
So that i will be able to implement it conforming to how subversion handles it.

In worst-case i would have to scan through the sources of svn if someone would point me to the file where this is implemented (but specs would be nicer of course...).
