Mailing list issues

Hi

I posted yesterday complaining that I can't get posts through to the
users' mailing list.

A moderator blocked the mail on account of it being off topic. I
pointed out that this seems to be the forum where mailing list problems
have been discussed recently, and the moderator concurred and suggested
I repost. So I apologies it's not exactly on topic but as I can't get
through on users I didn't see what other choice I had.

I access the lists through nntp via gmane. Maybe it's this interface
that's broken.

Is it really the case that all mails received via gmane have to be
moderated? That seems like adding a big load to the moderators' job.
When I first posted through gmane I got an automated reply which I had
to reply to to validate my e-mail - I assumed that from then on I was
effectively a "member" and wouldn't be bothering moderators with my traffic.

And on the subject of the mailing lists why do the Subversion mailing
lists not disguise e-mail addresses. Posters on the TSVN list get some
sort of scrambled identity in the "from" field - why can't the SVN lists
do this?

And I see I am famous on this web page
http://www.red-bean.com/svnproject/contribulyzer/

as a result of posting a trivial patch and a bug report (the bug report
wasn't even to one of the SVN lists). Seriously I don't mind but can
you say the same of the other 693 people who have their e-mail addresses
published there?
