Eh, my "bunch of work" was mostly limited to "make sure it doesn't corrupt
your wc state", not actually making it do anything useful. Did we actually
have a real use case where copy-on-update actually worked?

I guess once Greg is done making wc code less painful to write somebody
could do the second half of that feature (which makes it work when a delete
precedes the add, which is usually the case).

Thought it was interesting to post here. I know that for 1.5, I
*tried* to solve this problem partially, and glasser did a bunch of
work on it too. Do we have any happy progress to report on this,
should we want to respond to his blog?
