Search Engine development

Hi,

We have a project at work uses subversion as its underlying data
store (quite effectively). One of the requirements of the project is
that users need to be able to search the repository (there will be
too much data to do so locally).

I know of SupoSE, but I was wondering if there has been any work to
make a search engine for Subversion which is actually part of the
main trunk?

We need something that is quite flexible and ideally would allow
plugins for different file types to allow our binary files to be
searched as well.

If there isn't anything currently in progress I would be quite keen
on starting something - could anyone point me to any material or
thoughts that might exist.

Steve.

PS: Sorry if this has been asked - so far I can only find references
to questions and not really any answers on active development.
