node-origins and old servers

without the cache we've added.

Which RA APIs end up calling it? Which commands thus end up with a
big slowdown on pre-1.5 servers?

(I know we talked about this last week on IRC but I want to see it in
email; also, I'm confused between what the status quo was and what
your plans are (I think you're changing the slowdown from copy to
merge?).)
