Re: [PATCH] 1/5 svnmerge: clearly differentiate urls, directories, and repo-relative paths

I'm going to take a shot at what's going on with this patch. If this
comes off as something of a rant, then I'm sorry - it's not intended
that way. I'm just trying to figure out what I should do with this
patch series.

As I see it, svnmerge.py has always been a side-project (hence its
inclusion in contrib/), and most if not all current developers are
working on 1.5, the merge features of which leave svnmerge.py all the
more uninteresting.

This disinterest, however, is not balanced by a lower barrier to entry
for patches and changes to svnmerge.py. I'm asked to engender a
discussion among a group of people who are largely neither for nor
against my idea, but just interested in discussing it. This is
compounded by splitting the patch into pieces, the first few of which
are, indeed, pretty boring.

From my perspective, the usual patch-submitter situation applies: I am
happily using my modified version, so the acceptance of this patch
series matters less to me than to others who may benefit from the
improvements in contains.

Should I crawl back into my hole, muttering, "Oh well, I tried"? Should
I "fork" svnmerge.py and publish my changes separately?

Dustin
