A fair share of the people replying to users@ *were* asking for a 1.5
release. Especially webdav-proxy functionality was a feature
requested.
The people saying 'delay it/MT' were supposing we'd delay the 1.6/MT
release if we were to release a 1.5/no-MT. Max and I both think there
are enough of us to make a 1.5 release and still not-delay 1.6. The
reasoning has been that there's enough new code to warrent new public
stabilization (for those who want it). This should benefit the time
required to get 1.6 out there (in terms of number of weeks
stabilization after branch-point).
Speaking for myself: I won't contribute to MT (lack of time), but I
could do testing/review of anything coming out of a 1.5 release.
Also, I've been working on all remaining 1.5-consider issues, to
either reschedule, apply or close as WONTFIX/FIXED. I've been doing so
in order to - with Max, hopefully - work on an RC1. I'm not saying
it'll be this month though.
All in all do I think we're not going to meet the 1.5-before-summer
schedule you guys are thinking of and I want our code to be ready for
a 1.5/no-MT release when it becomes apparent it'll be this way. (Not
that I'm actually hoping for this scenario! I'd love to see plans
being met!)
Conclusion: I think users@ actually *do* want a 1.5 release asap and I
think that - though not one major killer - we have a lot to offer.
bye,
Erik /me who hates to see that we're actually waiting with new
releases for killer features; what about bugfixing?
