If we were going to do that we could just be using the native Subversion
support that now exits at tigris.org. The repository URL would become
http://subversion.tigris.org/svn/subversion. An advantage to this would be
that the project admins could use the roles and permissions feature at
tigris to manage the repository and committers.

All that being said, I believe we run our own server so that we can use
release candidates and also the GA version as soon as it is released,
rather than wait for tigris.org to get the latest version. Not to mention
that we can add our own hook scripts etc.
