Did you try running the script? If so, did you see what I saw?

Well, sure. But I was (and still am) puzzled about the inconsistency,
and would like to understand it.

Imagine this movie with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray
and it would work for you.  Better still, just rent "Double
Indemnity" and the hell with it.
