Subversion's design doc <http://subversion.tigris.org/design.html> is
a good reference. It touches on file system concepts.
http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/notes/ contains some good info
as well. So do the docs which can be found inside the directories
containing the existing FS implementations.
