your wishlist for updating the doc/design area

Hi,

    It pains me to see that the doc/design area is horribly out of date. Am
planning to update whatever I can. maxb has kindly agreed (over irc) to
help me out getting these committed.

    I would like your wishlist on what you think should be done. I will try
my best to address all inputs.
