italian translation bug

Is the following sentence *meant* to be pretty much informal?

svn: '/usr/home/lapo/...' รจ fra i piedi della risorsa attualmente sotto
controllo di versione

"essere tra i piedi" is pretty much like "it is hanging around me and
bugging me with its mere presence"... I mean: it's not something you
could say to your boss... it seems a bit too "strong" for a program like
SVN.

Problem is, there is not a "perfect" translation of the concept, you
must explain it with more words.

Personally I would translate using something like "occupare il posto di
*", which means something like "to use the place meant for *".
