I think .svn is data under user control. A corrupt WC admin area can
cause an error that the user has to cope with herself, but not a crash.

This also includes data in the repository.

IMO, no data read from disk may cause an assertion (or crash), even if it
is a temporary file (OK, we don't count swap space:-). The filesystem can
always change under us.
