fair point ... it's always SOMEWHERE in the docs.

ALTHOUGH, i'd still suggest that the two sources of info -- ./configure and INSTALL -- as
discussed, should be clearly consistent with one another.

at best, imho, they're mutually confusing, if not misleading or conflicting.

just my $0.02. now that i KNOW, i don't reeeaaaalllly care anymore ;-)
